Description - NHP TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TNFSF10, APO2L, CD253, TL2; Gene ID: 694451) is a cytokine that is secreted by many normal tissue types. It is a key trigger for the induction of apoptosis through its binding to “death receptors” DR4 and DR5 which activates a caspase cascade. TRAIL also binds to DcR1 and DcR2 which negate the DR4 and DR5 effects.

Disease Focus/Application Area - Cancer, tularemia, and apoptosis.
