Description - NHP transforming growth factor β3 (ARVD, LDS5, RNHF, ARVD1, TGF-beta3; Gene ID: 703239) is a member of at least three ligands in the TGF family that are highly pleiotropic and potent cytokines. They are secreted by almost all cell types, and as such their activity is tightly controlled and is largely non-redundant. TGFs are secreted and complexed with two other proteins, LAP and TGFBP, and require proteolytic cleavage to be active. TGF-β3 seems to play a role in the formation and maintenance of extracellular matrix and in cell-cell adhesion.
