Trefoil factor 3, also called intestinal trefoil factor (ITF, P1B, TFI, TFF3), is a secreted, protease-resistant polypeptide member of the trefoil factor (TFFs) family of proteins. Urinary TFF3 expression has been shown to be markedly reduced in response to renal tubular injury. However, toxic metabolites in the filtrate, not directed against the kidney, showed no effect on TFF3 levels. This is in contrast to more traditional markers of impaired kidney function (albumin, serum creatinine, and BUN) that are easily altered without pathogenic insult, limiting their diagnostic and functional assessment capabilities. Use of urinary TFF3 with other biomarkers may provide a more sensitive and comprehensive assessment of acute renal tubular injury than traditional biomarkers.

TFF3 Singleplex Products

Our TFF3 immunoassays provide fast, accurate, reproducible, and highly sensitive measurements of TFF3. MSD’s MULTI-ARRAY technology uses simple protocols, requires minimal sample, and quantifies analyte concentration over a wide dynamic range.
