Soluble transferrin receptor-1 (sTfR-1, T9, TR, p90, CD71, TFR1, TRFR, IMD46, TFRC) is an extracellular portion of the transferrin receptor 1. It is inversely related to iron status, so elevated levels may indicate low iron levels in inflammation, cancer, and chronic diseases. sTfR-1 is often bound to transferrin, and is a quantitative assay of marrow erythropoietic activity.
