S100A12

S100A12 (S100 Calcium Binding Protein A12, p6, CAGC, CGRP, MRP6, CAAF1, MRP-6, ENRAGE, S100A12, Calgranulin C) is a protein encoded by the S100A12 gene. It regulates many cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and cellular differentiation and have been associated with regulating immune response and inflammatory processes. S100A12 is part of the S100 family of proteins containing two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs and is found in both the cytoplasm and nucleus of a wide range of cells. In addition to calcium, signal transduction through this protein can also be achieved through the binging of zinc or copper.
