Granzyme B

Granzyme B (GZMB, C11, CTLA-1, CTSGL1, SECT) is a protease found in secretory granules of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells. When secreted into the target cell via the immunological synapse, Granzyme B causes cell death by activating many of the caspase enzymes present inside cells. Granzyme B has other functions including stimulating the release of proinflammatory cytokines, and remodelling of extracellular matrices. It may also play a role in the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hair loss.
