Complement C3

Complement C3 (ASP, C3a, C3b, AHUS5, ARMD9, CPAMD1, HEL-S-62p, C3) plays a central role in the activation of the complement system. Complement C3 is cleaved to form C3a and C3b by C3 convertase. C3a modulates inflammation. Both C3a and C3b act as chemoattractants for neutrophils in chronic inflammation. Complement C3 deficiency can cause susceptibility to bacterial infections.
