Carbonic Anhydrase 1 (CAB, CA-I, Car1, HEL-S-11, CA1) belongs to the α-CA sub-family and contains an N-terminus active site, zinc binding site, and substrate-binding site. CA1 catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. Carbonic Anhydrase 1 is involved in a number of biological processes, including respiration, calcification, acid-base balance and bone resorption.
