Description - NHP interleukin 1 receptor antagonist (IL1RN, IL1F3, IL-1RA, IRAP; Gene ID: 701658) is a protein that is produced in at least two forms, one that stays inside the cell and one that is secreted. This assay is for the secreted version. IL-1RA is secreted by various cell types including epithelial cells, monocytes, and adipocytes. It binds to the IL-1 receptor thus preventing signaling by both IL-1α and IL-1β cytokines.

Disease Focus/Application Area - Osteoporosis, gastric cancers, and rheumatoid arthritis.
