Description - Human macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MMIF, GLIF, GIF; Gene ID: 4282) is a proinflammatory, antibacterial chemokine that is secreted by T cells, macrophages, eosinophils, epithelial cells, and the anterior pituitary gland. It binds to both CXCR4 and CXCR7 receptors and CD74, and is involved in many biological processes including inflammation, modifying endocrine function, and modulating other cytokine signaling. It is chemoattractant for macrophages.

Disease Focus/Application Area - Cancer, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, sepsis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
