U-PLEX Human ENA-78 Assay

MSD offers a range of individual assays utilizing U-PLEX Antibody Sets that provide a rapid and convenient method for measuring biomarkers in complex matrices. The individual assays are offered on MSD GOLD Small Spot Streptavidin Plates and use the same antibody sets and diluents as the U-PLEX multiplex assays. This allows for efficient transfer between the individual assay and a higher throughput multiplex configuration. Typical of assays developed on the MSD platform, the individual assays have high sensitivity, excellent precision, provide up to five-logs of linear dynamic range, and require minimal sample volume. Epithelial Cell-derived Neutrophil-activating Peptide (ENA-78), also known as CXCL5, is a member of the CXC subfamily of chemokines. Full-length ENA-78 is 114 amino acids (aa) in length with a predicted molecular weight of 12 kDa. Following the removal of the signal peptide, bioactive ENA-78 is 78 aa in length. ENA-78 can be N-terminally cleaved by Cathepsin G and Chymotrypsin to ENA-74 (74 aa) and ENA-70 (70 aa), which show increased potency relative to ENA-78. ENA-78 is upregulated at sites of inflammation and is expressed by multiple hematopoietic cell types, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells, and adipocytes. It acts as a chemoattractant for neutrophils, has angiogenic properties, and contributes to cancer progression. The U-PLEX Human ENA-78 Assay provides the components for the quantitative determination of both natural and recombinant ENA-78 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.
