Description - Human interleukin 17C (CX2, IL17C; Gene ID: 27189) is a cytokine that plays an important role in the innate immune system. It binds to the heterodimeric IL-17RA/IL-17RE receptor on immune cells, synergizing with IL-22 to stimulate the release of various antibacterial proteins and proinflammatory cytokines. Excessive activation of IL-17C causes pathogenic inflammatory effects seen in various autoimmune disorders.
