V-PLEX and V-PLEX Plus Questions

  1. Does the V stand for validated?

V-PLEX products are MSD's line of validated assays. These assays have gone through rigorous multi-lot validation. Validation data is provided in the product insert.
  2.

  3. What is the difference between V-PLEX and V-PLEX Plus kits?

The V-PLEX Plus kits include additional items (controls, wash buffer, and plate seals).
  4.

  5. In the V-PLEX product line, what is the difference between the full panel, a custom panel, and the single-assay kits?

Single-analyte V-PLEX assays are provided on single-spot, Small Spot plates. Full and custom panels are provided on MULTI-SPOT plates. But regardless of plate configuration, the capture and detection antibodies, diluents, and calibrators are all the same. Each kit is provided with the specific detection antibodies for the assays ordered, e.g., for a 10-analyte V-PLEX panel, 10 detection antibodies are supplied with the full panel; 2 to 9 with custom panels, and one with single-assay kits.
  6.

  7. Can I expect similar results for the same analyte when measuring it using the single-analyte V-PLEX kit vs. the V-PLEX panel?

Yes. The same controls are run in both assay formats. Specifications for control quantification and precision are similar for both formats. Calibration curves comparing assay performance when run on single-spot plates or as part of the full panel are shown in the product insert, which is available online and shipped with each kit.
  8.

  9. Are MSD calibrators anchored to WHO standards?

If NIBSC or WHO reference material is available, MSD V-PLEX assays are calibrated to those reference materials. The conversion between the reference material and the MSD calibration material is provided in each product insert, which is available online and shipped with each kit.
  10.

  11. What is the shelf-life of V-PLEX kits?

Kits expire 30 months from date of manufacture. The expiration date will be provided on the product-specific certificate of analysis, which is available online and shipped with each kit.
  12.

  13. What are the QC release specifications for V-PLEX kits?

V-PLEX kits are shipped with a certificate of analysis (C of A) that lists release criteria. Electronic copies of C of A’s are also available via our Certificate Of Analysis search.
  14.

  15. Are V-PLEX kits provided with controls?

No, but V-PLEX Plus kits include controls. Controls are also available for separate purchase.
  16.

  17. Can I order additional calibrator for V-PLEX kits?

Yes. See the product insert or search our online catalog for the calibrator catalog number.
  18.

  19. Can I order additional detection antibody for V-PLEX kits?

Yes. See the product insert or search our online catalog for the detection antibody catalog number.
  20.

  21. How do I request a custom kit with a subset of assays selected from the full V-PLEX panel?

The V-PLEX Quote page will guide you through that process.
  22.

  23. How do I a request a kit that includes assays from a V-PLEX panel and assays that are not on that panel?

Use the Special Order form to request the assays you would like to include.
