Phospho-PERK (Thr981) Kit
|
| Protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK) is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) transmembrane protein that mediates the unfolded protein response (UPR) adaptation to ER stressors. In response to the accumulation of misfolded proteins in the ER lumen, PERK is activated by oligomerization and autophosphorylation at threonine 981 in humans and threonine 980 in rats. Activated PERK phosphorylates eIF2α, resulting in global repression of translation and cell cycle arrest due to loss of the cyclin D1. Chronic PERK activation induces apoptosis.and is associated with adverse conditions such as cancer, diabetes. muscle degeneration, and neurodegenerative diseases. The Phospho-PERK Kit provides the assay-specific components for the quantitative determination of endogenous PERK phosphorylated at threonine 981 in human cell lysates. |
