Activation of the PI-3 kinase pathway results in the translocation of Akt to the plasma membrane and its subsequent phosphorylation at Ser473 by 3-phosphoinositide-dependent kinase-1 (PDK1) or other kinases. Activated Akt then phosphorylates a number of downstream targets regulating cell growth, cell survival, cancer, and diabetes. This kit provides assay-specific components for the quantitative determination of phospho-Akt (Ser473) in human, mouse, and rat whole cell lysates.
